The International
Summer Festival
of Arts

22.03 — 24.07.2020

The Access Point has always been exploring new territories for theatre. This year’s new territory is virtual space, the Internet as such. We have already ventured into it, having launched the Spontaneous Programme, our online theatre laboratory. Now it’s the time for the main programme, which will include projects by major international directors who work online. The festival will welcome authors from UK, Germany, Russia, Latvia, Switzerland and other countries. The festival will also feature a diverse educational programme, which will make lectures by theatre theorists and practitioners available to anyone (who understands Russian). British director Tassos Stevens will teach a week-long workshop on creating performances that balance between game development and theatre. We hope that the festival will become a major research platform for online theatre and new art.

The educational programme is an important part of the The Access Point festival. It gives us a chance to invite the lecturers we could not even dream of before. We have already had live broadcasts with Richard Schechner, Gian Maria Tosatti, Tassos Stevens and Morten Traavik. We are now scheduling public talks with Milo Rau and Susan Kennedy, lectures by Tim Etchells and Katerina Kokkinos-Kennedy. The online space does not limit the number of viewers and makes lectures accessible to anyone, regardless of where they are.

The educational programme will also feature a week-long workshop by British director Tassos Stevens. Successful applicants will create projects that balance between gaming and participatory theatre.
